Double Tops from Tucson
Jeremy builds each guitar by hand, one at a time, and remains committed to highly responsive concert instruments that combine power with a rich and colorful musical voice. His double tops sandwich a lightweight Nomex honeycomb core between thin skins of wood – often Western red cedar outside and Engelmann spruce inside – giving the soundboard a very high stiffness-to-weight ratio, and so the quick response, dynamic range and projection for which the best double-top guitars are known.
Power and Sweetness
Jeremy's aim is the immediacy and carrying power of a modern double top without losing the warmth and complexity expected from a fine classical guitar. Players of his instruments often comment on their combination of power, sweetness, balance and unusually broad tonal palette. Features such as a soundport in the upper bass bout and an elevated fingerboard reflect his emphasis on efficiency and playability.
