Description
David "Jose" Rubio is well known for his work with Julian Bream in the 1960s. This instrument was built during this very period while he was still in New York (Bream played on Rubio guitars made in 1965 and 1966), before he returned to his native England. This Rubio has a very bold sound with the power of any Fleta or Rodriguez from the same period. As is typical with most great Rubios it is very even and balanced in all registers. At the same time, it has the beauty and lyricism for which he is best known. Condition-wise, there are no known repairs or cracks, only normal playing wear. It is a particularly beautiful example of Rubio's work and has some of the more magnificent rosewood for the back and sides that he is known to have used. Overall a sensational example of this legendary makers best work.
