Of its prior owners, British guitarist Mark Ashford bought the guitar from the British guitarist and well-known author Graham Wade. Mark recorded 3 albums with it, including solo works on his "Sonata" CD (audio samples can be heard here), the Concierto de Aranjuez with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the first Vida Quartet CD (called "Love the Magician"). Mark also made many broadcasts on this guitar for the BBC and placed in several competitions with it including the GFA (2nd prize) and Alessandria (3rd prize). Despite the amount of professional playing that has been done with this instrument, condition remains excellent and all original with no repairs - only some finish touch up on the back of the neck (reportedly done by Paul Fischer) and typical but minor playing wear, and a couple of dings behind the bridge.
This is a Rubio that has it all - excellent provenance, condition, beauty of sound, materials and craftsmanship. We consider this instrument both a players dream and highly collectable.
