American luthier Lester DeVoe is among the most in-demand flamenco guitar makers alive today, and currently has a waiting list of several years. He has been building for nearly 50 years (having started in 1975), and his guitars have been played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo and Sabicas. He builds in the style of the old masters, creating punchy guitars that are as light as a feather (similar in weight to a great Barbero or Santos).
This blanca from 1985 is in excellent condition, with no prior damage or repairs and only has some modest playing wear in the finish. It is a very well-constructed guitar, with clean aesthetics and great attention to detail inside and out. The sound is "flamenco puro" - bright, vibrant basses and snappy trebles. DeVoe flamencos have a reputation for extremely easy playability, and this guitar is no exception. It is extremely lightweight and gutsy, and is one of very few modern guitars made in such a traditional style.
