Description

American luthier Lester DeVoe is among the most in-demand flamenco guitar makers alive today, and currently has a waiting list of several years. He has been building for over 30 years, and his guitars have been played by Paco de Lucia, Vicente Amigo and Sabicas. He builds in the style of the old masters, creating punchy guitars that are as light as a feather (similar in weight to a great Barbero or Santos).

This new cedar blanca is a very well-constructed guitar, with clean aesthetics and great attention to detail inside and out. It also features "machine pegs" - which are actually machined from inside the headstock, providing seamless tuning with the traditional look of wooden pegs. The sound is "flamenco puro" - bright, vibrant basses and snappy trebles, but with a warmth to the body of every note, as can be heard in the recordings of Vicente Amigo. DeVoe flamencos have a reputation for extremely easy playability, and this guitar is no exception. It is extremely lightweight and gutsy, and is one of very few modern guitars made in such a traditional style.
