This British luthier builds some of the most exquisitely beautiful instruments that we carry, and this one is no exception. It is precisely constructed and handmade using the finest materials, including beautiful and rare "churchdoor-like" rosewood (a la Miguel Rodriguez) for the back and sides, and a piece of European spruce with gorgeous bearclaw for the soundboard. It also features hand-made tuning machines by David Rodgers. The headstock is elegantly carved, which is rare for this maker. The shape ("plantilla") of the instrument is reminiscent of David Rubio and Bouchet - the high waist-line gives it an enlarged lower bout, arguably this assists with tone production - dedicating a larger percentage of the soundboard to the most active vibrating area below the lower harmonic bar. The sound is full and rich, with exceptional clarity, and big projection. Whiteman's guitars are also known for their balance, sustain, and firm, even response. Although a "used" guitar from 1995, this instrument is in like-new condition with no repairs or damage, and almost no signs of playing wear. An exceptional guitar by all standards.
