A native of Colorado, guitarmaker John Weissenrieder lives and builds guitars in Florence, Italy, where he initially apprenticed with Andrea Tacchi before establishing his own shop. This guitar, his 10-string model, features intricate aesthetic elements found in his "Simplicio" model, - mainly in the rosette, purfling and tie block details. In addition to being beautifully made, the instrument plays and sounds gorgeous. The additional bass strings allow players of Renaissance and Baroque lute music to play period repertoire without having to transpose bass notes. The instrument also works beautifully for transcriptions of piano and orchestral music which require a wider note range. Like this maker's other models, this guitar has plenty of power and projection, enough for any concert situation.
