Description

Mariano Tezanos is famous for the work of his father (same name) who stamped M. T. inside some of the greatest guitars from Ramirez during the 60s and 70s. After years of building guitars with Madrid builder (himself a veteran Ramirez luthier) Teodoro Perez, under the joint name "Tezanos-Perez", both builders in 2005 decided to separate and set up their own independent shops. This guitar was was made in Mariano Tezanos' shop, and is the only model that we have seen ("Maestro"). It features some beautiful materials, particularly for the back and sides for those who like high-quality lush CSA rosewood with deep grain patterning. The sound has the recognizably big, Madrid-style of tone. Considering the quality of sound, materials, playability and workmanship, this guitar is extremely hard to beat for this price range. Condition of this guitar is excellent - apart from a small repair to the the soundboard at the side of the fingerboard, the guitar is in excellent shape with only some wear in the finish, thanks largely to its previous owner - Grammy Award winner Scott Tennant (included with the guitar is a signed letter from Scott - see image in photo gallery). Tuners are by Rodgers. Overall a fantastic and solid example of the best work to come out of the Madrid school in the past 20 years.
