Background

This is another great instrument from luthier Wataru Tsuji, working out of the Asturias workshop in Japan. This model, the "Aged Top" is named after the process by which the spruce used for the soundboard is treated, mainly with a heating process, to give it a natural darkened, aged look as well as sonic qualities found in older instruments. More specifically, the spruce comes from the Alps in Europe and is called "Hot Spruce" whereby the woods are carefully "baked" in an oven for two days under heat control in Austria. The amount of water, sugars, and resins are reduced, therefore decreasing the weight and subsequently increasing the stiffness. Fit and finish of this guitar is perfect, and materials are highest quality available. It has a typical spruce sound, very refined and clean, with great focus. The action is set very comfortably, and help make this an overall very enjoyable guitar for player and audience alike. It also features a slightly elevated fingerboard, for easier access to notes above the 12th fret. A great choice for the serious concert performer or recording artist.
