This is the second spruce-top guitar we've received from Dominik after his visit here earlier last year, primarily to inspect and study several of the guitars from the Russell Cleveland collection. Previously, Dominik was making guitars in a very stiff way especially when it came to the sides and the back, a philosophy adopted by a lot of guitar makers from Ramirez to Friederich. Constructing the back and sides in the manner, he felt he was missing something, particularly in the bass range. After playing the guitars at GSI, Dominik made many small adjustments which resulted in a completely new guitar. For instance, 3 bars on the back instead of 4, a thinner back, thinner sides, and less doming on the top. Overall, a lighter-built guitar which now achieves a fine compromise between a modern guitar and the old Spanish masters. To us, this guitar has improved responsiveness in all registers and a bigger, more robust sound all around. As with all his instruments, this guitar plays easy, has immediate attack with a lively, full sound behind it and is just overall a joy to play. Although used it's in great shape with only some very minor wear i in the finish. Fantastic instrument in every regard.
