This is is Yulong Guo's "Granada" model which he developed for the 2nd International "Antonio Marin Montero" Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain in the summer of 2018. The guitar was a hit - a major success where he took second prize. Just a look at it and one can immediately see the bold, but classy aesthetic - the rosette has a Romanillos-inspired motif featuring black Moorish columns backed by abalone inlays, giving the guitar a dramatic and strong look. The head veneer and binding are snakewood, and the back has a strip of flamed maple which tapers toward the heel, and is flanked on either side by a gorgeous book-matched set of CSA rosewood which complements and frames the maple strip beautifully. Sound is as lovely as the appearance - velvety, smooth and balanced across all registers, with immediate response and a nice, lightweight feel. The neck shape is extremely comfortable and it's a breeze to play. This is really a classy instrument in every regard. Although brand-new (never been pre-owned), it was withheld initially from sale due to some slight de-laminating of finish on the back in a few spots (you can see these in the photos in the gallery) and we planned to have this fixed by Yulong during a future visit but then covid hit making this impossible. Well, years later we found the guitar in our basement and contacted Yulong who agreed to simply let us auction it in this condition, since it's aesthetic only and the structural integrity of the guitar is perfectly intact. Otherwise, it remains in perfect concert-ready shape!
