Description

Luthier Zoran Kuvac is based in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ex Yugoslavia) and has been a full-time luthier for many years - 2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of his workshop. His influences are mainly traditional Spanish makers such as Torres and Romanillos (he has participated twice in the Romanillos masterclasses) however his latest instruments have been based more on the contemporary French school. For this guitar, Zoran blended these influences to deliver something unique. The body has a bit of additional weight due to his doubling of the sides (with acacia on the interior) which assists in the production of more volume and a focused, direct sound for better projection. The soundboard is traditionally braced with 7 fans and a thin bridge patch. There is a slight amount of elevation in the fingerboard at the body which Zoran has done at the request of many of his performing clients. Materials are very elegant - it features some beautiful and very reddish colored cocobolo for the back, sides, head veneer and bindings. The soundboard is a gorgeous tight-grained, quarter-sawn set of western red cedar. Zoran also added a a bit more inlay into this instrument - tastefully done herringbone in the top purfling frames the instrument beautifully. Sound is extremely refined - a thick, fat sound yet with brilliant clarity at the same time. Very responsive to both hands, it has great punch and huge volume that would meet the demands of any professional recitalist. Many well-known guitarists including Zoran Dukić and Edin Karamazov have played Kuvac guitars.
