This is Eric Monrad's "Double Top" model which features some beautiful spruce (note the bearclaw accents throughout) on the exterior of the soundboard and cedar on the interior, with a nomex core. The top is attached to the sides with a structural laminated liner which allows for no flexing of the sides despite the relatively thin top. This assists in achieving a very efficient soundboard, with minimal energy lost to the sides. Other modern features include an elevated fingerboard, which freely floats above the soundboard from the neck joint to the 20th fret (again, optimizing soundboard efficiency), and a single sound port on the upper bout bass side rib, which adds additional volume (to an otherwise already powerful guitar) most notably to the player's ear. Both nut and saddle are compensated for each string following Greg Byers' system. The instrument is fitted with a beautiful set of Rodgers tuning machines and handsomely decorated with a "double herringbone" motif found in the central area of the rosette, back center seam and head veneer, which gives the total instrument an overall unified aesthetic. Included with the guitar is a BAM case with cover.
