Paula Lazzarini WINS the 4th Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition in Granada, Spain!
The 4th edition of the Antonio Marin Montero Guitar Building Competition organized by the European Guitar Foundation is now finished and we know the prize-winners! Argentine-Italian luthier, Paula Lazzarini became the winner of this year’s competition and the first female classical guitar maker to win this prestigious prize!
As always, this competition featured great guitar makers who competed for prizes. The jury members featured outstanding guitarists and renown experts: Yuris Zeltins (USA), Manuel Cáceres (Spain), Edmund Blöchinger (Germany), Juan Carlos Martos (Spain), Alberto Cuéllar (Spain), and our own president of GSI, David Collett. After careful examination of presented guitars, the jury members chose the following finalists: Amelie Bouvret (France), Angel Gomez de Guillén (Spain), Yutaka Iwata (Japan), Francisco Jimenez (Spain), Jesus of Jimenez (Spain), Paula Lazzarini (Argentina-Italy), and Karl-Heinz Römmich (Germany).
However, there could be only three prize-winners, so among these great makers, the jury awarded the following awards:
1st prize: Paula Lazzarini (Argentina-Italy)
2nd prize: Jesus of Jimenez (Spain)
3rd prize: Amelie Bouvret (France)
As part of the prizes, winners will have a chance to feature their guitars at GSI. They also received packs of wood gifted by Madinter, discounts for Visesnut cases, strings sponsored by Pepe Romero Strings, and strings gifted by RC Strings.
We’d like to congratulate the winners! We’re looking forward to featuring their guitars at GSI. It was a great experience to be a part of this and be there with the master of guitar-making, Antonio Marin Montero, who is 88 this year! Also, special congratulations to the organizer, Vicente Coves, for another successful edition of this competition.
