This guitar was made by Arcangel Fernandez, one of the most famous Spanish luthiers of the latter half of the twentieth century. He studied under the legendary Marcelo Barbero and later tutored his son, the late Marcelo Barbero hijo. Rosewood classicals from this maker rarely enter the market. Demand for these over the past several decades has been so strong (particularly in Japan where he exclusively supplied rosewood guitars for the last 15 years of his career) that they have become among the rarest of the rare. This example from 1966 is an exceptionally strong guitar with a huge, powerful sound, very bold across all registers with a solid and clear fundamental surrounded by a beautiful, resonant halo of overtones. This guitar is a collectors (and players) dream by every measure. Extremely desirable in all ways, we are simply thrilled to have this rare gem on offer.
