Description

This 1991 Antonio Raya Pardo is a spruce and cypress flamenco guitar made in Granada, Spain, by the late Granada master, who began as an apprentice in the workshop of José López Bellido.

A Traditional Granada Flamenco Guitar

An extraordinary traditional flamenco from Antonio Raya Pardo, the late Granada master. Made to exemplify the Granada style – light, responsive and full of gypsy echo – it is a smaller-bodied guitar with a very big voice. Excellent, fast playability and very fun to play, like taking a little Ferrari for a spin.

Materials and Condition

Beautiful wood selection, including a nicely figured CSA rosewood bridge. Very sound condition with some play wear, but no cracks. A great buy.

Background

Antonio Raya Pardo (1950–2022): A Granada Master

Antonio Raya Pardo was born in 1950 in Huelma, in the province of Jaén, but lived in Granada from childhood. In 1972 he worked as an apprentice in the workshop of José López Bellido, and the following year he set up on his own. Until his passing in 2022 he was one of the most important names in the Granada school of guitar making.

Nearly 600 Guitars

Antonio was a prolific maker of both flamenco and classical guitars – with nearly 600 instruments to his name, he was certainly one of the more experienced luthiers of his time.
