Description

This is the final instrument built by Jose "Pepe" Rodriguez (fourth member of the "Miguel Rodriguez" guitar-making family), completed just before his passing away in 1996. It was built for its first owner, Angel Romero. As a dedication to Angel, it was named "La Califa", and Angel used this guitar on his recording "Rodrigo - Works for Solo Guitar" (see photos in gallery). Apart for some minor playing wear, a hariline repaired crack in the back and two small repairs to the top on either side of the bridge, the guitar is in fantastic condition. All is original, including finish. Sound is huge and full with excellent sustain and very fast response – all hallmarks of a great Rodriguez are present here in this instrument. It is also one of the "Centenario" instruments, which features not only the finest of materials but additional inlay in the rosette and purfling. Very desirable for its quality of sound, aesthetic beauty and provenance – collector and performer alike will find this to be an extremely exciting instrument to own and play.

Background

The classical and flamenco guitars of Miguel Rodriguez have been the favorite pick of many leading concert artists, most notably all members of the Romero family. In actuality, when speaking of Miguel Rodriguez, one is really making reference to a family of four guitar builders spanning three generations.
