The classical and flamenco guitars of Miguel Rodriguez have been the favorite pick of many leading concert artists, most notably all members of the Romero family. In actuality, when speaking of Miguel Rodriguez, one is really making reference to a family of four guitar builders spanning three generations. This guitar was built by Miguel Rodriguez Jr. in 1962. The tone is silky, smooth, very even and clean with dark, powerful basses and thick trebles which carry a lot of weight. The separation between voices is superb, and this is achieved without the loss of warmth. As per Rodriguez' reputation, this guitar has a lightning-fast flamenco-like response to the attack of every note, giving it great bounce and instant presence. It is set up for classical playing but has the tone and responsiveness to accommodate both flamenco and classical styles - making it universally versatile for any musical setting. It has had some very minor finish work mainly to polish out the removal of a tap plate that was once on it. Materials are beautiful including some (rare for Rodriguez) bearclaw spruce for the top. No cracks, no repairs, this guitar is in concert-ready condition. Very desirable for a Rodriguez from this period.
