Description

This is a very interesting, rare and unique Velazquez. It features a set of elegantly flamed maple for the back and sides, and has a more compact body size than any other we've seen post-1965. There is a second label inside the guitar, with a dedication to Antonio de Torres, the father of the modern guitar. The sound has all the trademark Velazquez quality - clean, pure tone with razor-sharp separation between all voices. The fundamental of every note is crystal clear yet the resonance coming out of the box adds a nice rich fullness to the body of each note. The maple back and sides adds a "golden glow" to this basic sound, giving it a bit more warmth not normally heard in the rosewood counterparts. Playability is very easy thanks to the sleek shape and contour of the neck, as well as the precise set up. Condition is excellent - in fact, we could quite possibly call it "new" as it is simply in the same pristine condition of a new guitar, with no signs even of playing wear. Tuners are Rodgers with satinwood buttons to match the maple. Overall an extremely beautiful and collectible instrument by arguably the most important and legendary American maker to date.
