Description

This is a "true" replica of a second-epoch Torres, built in Italy by luthier Lucio Carbone. Please note - the instrument is in perfectly "new" condition (with no real cracks or repairs) - all the wear, tear, repairs, cracks, nicks, dings, etc. are all a part of the luthier's original construction to replicate the original as it appears now in its current condition. There are even "faux" repairs internally - smeared glue, cleats and patches are visible internally with a light and a mirror. Finish discoloration and application also was done to achieve the aged patina that can be seen on old vintage instruments like the original. In addition to the scoring to resemble the cracks, the tuners were machined and "aged" to copy the originals. One small difference is that the original was missing a screw - although no screws are missing on this one Carbone made up for this by making sure they are not all the same. Carbone worked with a museum curator in Milan, Italy, to perfect the details. As authentic a copy as this is, Carbone ensured that it could not be mistaken for the original by stamping his name in many parts of the instrument - internally and on the back of the headstock. The sound of the guitar is also hauntingly authentic. It has the lively response and charm of an old instrument and the deep, bottomless basses and lyrical, singing trebles that one hears in an actual Torres. This guitar was built over a period of 2 years to ensure all details were as accurate as possible. We may never see something quite like this again, other than having a real Torres, so this is a very rare and unique opportunity to offer such a fascinating and intriguing instrument.
