German guitar maker Gerhard Oldiges has been making instruments since the 1970s. He has studied under Jose Romanillos and, along with Tobias Braun, was responsible for the German translation of the famous Torres book. Although he is familiar with many different styles of guitar, his primary building style focuses on the traditional designs of the past, most notably Hermann Hauser.
This is an excellent example from 2008, and features a spruce soundboard atop Indian rosewood sides and back. Typical for the Hauser style, the sound is tight and well-defined with great balance and separation. Playability is easy and the guitar is well-suited to extended playing sessions. Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs, only surface playing wear in the finish.
