Jose Vigil was born into a family of musicians and has played guitar since his teens. His love of woodworking combined with musical background naturally led him to guitar construction and he settled in Granada and was welcomed warmly into the guitar making community where he received training, advice and friendship with the veterans of the craft, including Antonio Marin, Rafael Moreno Rodriguez and most recently from Edmund Blochinger during a visit to Granada. Being in the "Granada" school, his guitars have a slightly more compact and lightweight body size, with great speed of response and big volume with many nuances and colors of sound. Materials on this guitar are spectacular - the cedar top especially is perfectly quarter-sawn with generous amounts of cross-grain silk. Sound-wise it has a great amount of warmth and darkness, as opposed to his brighter sounding spruce top version of the same guitar. Aesthetically, the guitar has an elegant simplicity which is very tasteful and refined - reminiscent of some of the most charming second epoch guitars of Torres. This is a fantastic guitar built by one of the most promising younger builders hailing from Granada today.
