2018 Michael Thames "Ancient Dragon" CD/IN

This guitar was built by veteran US luthier Michael Thames, who has been building for over half a century and has now produced over 1000 instruments. Thames has built a large variety of instruments including historical replicas as well as experimental, contemporary models of his own. This is a beautifully made, traditional guitar from 2018, built with gorgeous and well-aged materials. In Michael's own words: "It features a top made from a cedar tree that was 500 years old that fell naturally. I call guitars made from this wood 'Ancient Dragons'. The back and sides are 50 year old Indian rosewood. And the rosette is styled after Torres." Easy to play and boasting a big, robust and lush sound - rich in overtones yet elegantly balanced and clear, this is a fantastic instrument all around. It is also has an armrest installed for a more ergonomicly comfortable playing position for the right arm. Although a second-hand guitar it in great shape with only minor wear in the finish. Overall a very fine concert instrument.
