This is a lovely instrument built by veteran US luthier Michael Thames, who has been making guitars for over 40 years. The guitar to us is reminiscent in some ways to Friederich - outwardly the headshape is similar to the "recital" models of the 1960's and internally it features doubled sides with mahogany on the inside (Indian rosewood on the exterior), a practice Friederich adopted in his "concert" models in the early 1970's. The sound of this Thames is very rich and plump yet at the same has great balance and clarity between voices. The doubled sides improve sustain, particularly in the trebles, and provide additional projection for the recitalist in the concert hall. Overall a very fine concert instrument.
