Luthier Zoran Kuvac is based in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ex Yugoslavia) and has been a full-time luthier for many years - 2023 marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of his workshop. His influences are mainly traditional Spanish makers such as Torres and Romanillos (he has participated twice in the Romanillos masterclasses) however he also likes to build in a variety of contemporary styles, including guitars influenced by the modern French school, which we've had in the past, as well as double-top designs. For this guitar, Zoran has built us one of his very personalized double-top models. To achieve the maximal benefit in sound quality he chose to avoid the use of nomex for the core and instead used a latticed system of balsa wood which has a more natural "woody" quality of sound and at the same time delivers enhanced responsiveness and efficiency of attack. The additional power is also assisted by the very lightly bracing internally of just 5 fans. There is a slight amount of elevation in the fingerboard at the body which Zoran has done at the request of many of his performing clients. Materials are very elegant - it features a beautiful three-piece back of figured CSA rosewood, and sparse use of mother-of-pearl in the tie-block and fingerboard fret marker. The soundboard is a gorgeous tight-grained, quarter-sawn set of European spruce. Zoran also added a a bit more inlay into this instrument - tastefully done herringbone in the top purfling frames the instrument beautifully. Sound is extremely refined - a full, penetrating sound with brilliant clarity and balance. Very responsive to both hands, it has great punch and huge volume that would meet the demands of any professional recitalist. Many well-known guitarists including Zoran Dukić and Edin Karamazov have played Kuvac guitars.
