Description
The Hermanos Camps “Primera Negra” is a new concert-level flamenco negra with a spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides, made in Girona, Spain, and certified by flamenco guitarist Manuel Granados.
A Concert-Level Flamenco Negra
The “Primera Negra” model is a concert-level instrument weighing in at +/- 1450 grams. It has added projection over its blanca counterpart, due to the more rigid and stiff materials for the back and sides (Indian rosewood vs cypress).
Flamenco with Classical Versatility
Although still a flamenco, this is the model in the Camps flamencos that could also be used for classical, so for the flamenco guitarist seeking versatility in his repertoire, this may be his best option. Like the blanca, it has great responsiveness, easy action and very accurate setup (assisted by a reinforced neck). Fantastic value for the money.
A new hardshell case is included with this guitar.

Background
A Family Workshop in Girona Since 1945
For players seeking a traditional-style Spanish classical or flamenco guitar, these instruments by Hermanos Camps simply can’t be topped. The workshop was founded in 1945 by Juan Camps Coll in Banyoles, in the Catalan province of Girona, and is run today by his sons, the brothers Jordi and Javier Camps, who learned everything from their father from a very early age. All of their guitars are built in their own workshop in Girona.
Lightweight Build, Easy Setup, Clean Fit and Finish
Jordi and Javier are focused on how to ensure that their guitars have a lightweight yet solid build, with an incredibly comfortable low and easy setup and precise attention to an ultra-clean “fit and finish”. Of course tone quality and balance are the ultimate concern, and we are extremely proud to say that these are among our better Spanish-made classical and flamenco guitars.
Primera Flamenco Guitars Certified by Manuel Granados
For their Primera flamenco models, the brothers have collaborated with acclaimed flamenco performer and pedagogue Manuel Granados, who tests and certifies each Primera before it leaves the workshop – with primary emphasis on the lightest but solid build possible and a true flamenco action, with just the right amount of sizzle from controlled fret buzz.
Tradition and Innovation
The guitars are built according to the traditional Spanish methods going back to Antonio de Torres, the father of the modern guitar. But the Camps workshop has always pursued innovation too – Juan Camps was forever experimenting with new building techniques, and today’s guitars include modern touches such as a truss rod inside the neck and, on their electroacoustic models, an amplification system with six independent saddles.
