Description

We are excited to have received this gorgeous guitar from Luis. As always, he's working with fantastic materials - in this case, beautiful dark-chocolate-like wenge for the back and sides, complemented with a cedar soundboard from wood he personally harvested 12 years ago near Bakewell Lake while he was living in Alaska. This is the first guitar he's built with this wood and to commemorate this, he has inlaid the guitar with red, white and blue (to represent the colors of the flags of his two countries - Panama and the United States) in the purflings - alternating on the sides and back, as well as in the tie-block and inner/outer bands of the central mosaic in the rosette. Luis aptly nicknamed this guitar "Tricolor". As with all of Luis' instruments, this guitar is beautifully made, with mirror-like French polish and ultra-precise craftsmaship. This guitar also features a slightly elevated fingerboard and 20th fret. Luis has used a system of 3 braces on top of a bridge patch, all enclosed by 4 diagonal braces emanating from the soundhole at one end and the foot at the other. This lightweight design provides responsive sound with a "plumpness" to each note that allows the overtone content of the cedar to add layers of richness to every note. Simply a great guitar, all around - beautiful to the eye and ear.
