2020 Luis Fernandez de Cordoba SP/BL

We are excited to have received this very interesting guitar from Luis, as he used a set of wood for the back and sides that is new to us - Black Limba. Luis feels it's similar to light walnut in many ways. He has doubled the inside of the ribs with yellow cedar - similar in practice to many of the Madrid school makers and some of the French school - the idea is that by making the sides extra rigid, more of the sonic energy can remain concentrated to the soundboard, enhancing the focus and power of each note. As with all of Luis' instruments, this guitar is beautifully made, with an ebony head veneer, bindings and bridge, and a Torres inspired rosette with checkerboard motif in the center. This guitar also features a slightly elevated fingerboard and 20th fret. Luis uses a 5-fan bracing pattern with open harmonic bar design on both the upper and lower harmonic bars. Sound is rich, wholesome and perfectly balanced. Simply a great guitar, all around - beautiful to the eye and ear. Although used, it is in excellent condition with a very slight amount of wear from its prior use.
