This guitar was made by Arcangel Fernandez, one of the most famous Spanish luthiers of the latter half of the twentieth century. He studied under the legendary Marcelo Barbero and later tutored his son, the late Marcelo Barbero hijo. Rosewood classicals from this maker rarely enter the market. Demand for these over the past several decades has been so strong (particularly in Japan) that they have become among the rarest of the rare. This example from 1961 is an exceptionally strong guitar with a huge sound, very bold across all registers and lives up to its reputation with ease. Apart from 2 well-repaired cracks in the soundboard (none in the back and sides) the guitar is a collectors (and players) dream. Extremely desirable in all ways, we are thrilled to have this rare gem.
