Jose Oribe began making guitars in 1962, who along with Manuel Velazquez, makes him one of North America's most veteran builders of the past 50 years. Oribe is famous for his fine materials as a quick glance at this instrument will attest. This model, his 'Calidad Suprema' was for many years the flagship model of his output and has been compared often to the finest Madrid-style instruments (Ramirez, Contreras, Bernabe, etc.) in its tonal and structural characteristics. It has a big, deep and rich tone with great volume, making this a particularly strong instrument for live performance. Despite 40+ years of playing, the condition is excellent, with only a minor blemish in the lower bout recently touched up by German Vazquez.
