An absolutely stunning guitar by one of Italy's most interesting guitar makers. The guitar is heavier than most due to having extra-thick back and sides. This forces the top to do all the vibrating, making this guitar project extremely well while retaining all the clarity of the note. This instrument is extremely well-suited to ensemble work (with percussion ensemble, orchestra, piano, etc.). Pepe Romero (previous and only owner of this particular guitar to date) recalls his early history with this guitar - he picked it up direct from Giussani in 1990 at the Salzburg Music Festival where Pepe performed two recitals on it - a solo recital and a concerto (Rodrigo's "Aranjuez") after only having had the guitar for one day!
The instrument is named “Arimech” and it was made with breathtaking flamed maple for the back and sides and spruce for the soundboard, and has Giussani's classic and unique aesthetic – very simple design in the headstock, rosette and purfling, which allows for the dramatic natural elements to stand out. Playability is a breeze with a comfortable neck shape. Although a second-hand instrument, the condition is excellent, virtually like-new. Incredibly versatile instrument for the active concert artist looking for a powerful and sturdy instrument that can be played in any musical setting, solo or with ensemble.
A letter from Pepe Romero stating provenance is included with the guitar.
