This model was first commissioned in 2001 by Gianvito Pulzone of the Guitart Quartet, and very quickly, all other members of this quartet followed up with commissions to Giussani for this same model. It's main feature is its elevated fingerboard, inspired by the design of Thomas Humprey. The idea was to have a Giussani guitar built with its normal, maximum power and sound - primarily in order to play with orchestra - and to have improved ease of left hand shifting above the 12th fret. The guitar features the classic Giussani design with extra-thick back and sides - which forces the top to do all the vibrating, making this guitar project extremely well while retaining all the clarity of the note. Giussani instruments have had a longstanding reputation for being extremely well-suited for ensemble work (with percussion ensemble, orchestra, piano, etc.). Indeed Pepe Romero has had great success concertizing on these instruments for concerto work while on tour in Europe. It is also used by members of guitar ensembles, including the Brazilian Guitar Quartet and Guitart Quartet, as previously mentioned.
This 2008 model is made with a beautiful set of CSA rosewood for the back and sides and uses cedar for the soundboard. It is also appointed with Giussani's unique aesthetic - the simple designs in the headstock, rosette and purfling allows for the dramatic natural elements to stand out. It is also fitted with a 20th fret for players needing a high c natural. Although a second-hand instrument, it is in excellent, original condition with no cracks or repairs, only some minor wear in the finish. Incredibly versatile instrument for the active concert artist looking for a solid guitar that sounds great in any setting - solo or ensemble.
