A powerhouse of a guitar by one of Italy's most interesting guitar makers. The guitar is heavier than most due to having extra-thick back and sides. This forces the top to do all the vibrating, making this guitar project extremely well while retaining all the clarity of the note. This instrument is extremely well-suited to ensemble work (with percussion ensemble, orchestra, piano, etc.). Pepe Romero has had great success concertizing on these instruments from this same era for concerto work while on tour in Europe. It is also used by members of guitar ensembles, including the Brazilian Guitar Quartet and Guitart Quartet from Italy.
This 1991 model (named "Dheneb") is made with beautifully cut flamed maple for the back and sides and uses some dark, aged spruce for the soundboard. It is also built with a bold and austere aesthetic - very simple design in the headstock, rosette and purfling, which allows for the dramatic natural elements to stand out. Playability is a breeze with a comfortable neck shape. Although a second-hand instrument, condition is excellent with only playing wear in the finish (top is French polished with most of the wear - back and sides are finished in a more durable lacquer, with less wear). This guitar has great power, easy modulation (shifting of tonal colors) and is otherwise a very versatile instrument for the active concert artist looking for a rugged guitar that sounds great in any setting - solo or ensemble.
