Description

Built in the famous old workshop at Cuchilleros in the center of Madrid (before relocating to the Loto location), this is a classic-sounding and playing Bernabe concert guitar. As is typical from this period, it features striking materials, and is appointed with some beautiful inlay work, particularly in the rosette and tie block. This is the concert guitar that Marc Teicholz used for a substantial amount of his recording and concertizing career (see videos in the description for some samples) including his "Napolean Coste: Guitar Works, Vol. 5" album for the Naxos label. Despite its regular use on tour and in studio, the guitar has no cracks and no repairs, it's in amazing conditon given its history. It did have some recent finish work done to touch up the polish as well as fret job (the frets were worn to the fingerboard in the lower positions!) with fresh setup. Perhaps because Marc played it so much, it has really opened and has a tremendous amount of power, even by the standards of Bernabe from this era. Internally, the sides are lined with cypress like (similar to Jose Ramirez) which gives it added power by focusing more of the vibrating area to the top. Consequently, the sound is huge, hearty and full, yet very balanced and clear at the same time. The guitar plays and sounds fantastic, and has a bold sound that earned Bernabe a reputation for making guitars with great power. For the Bernabe fan out there, this is has it all, including great provenance!
