Description

This is an excellent and very impressive guitar all around. For this instrument, Jake used a gorgeous two-piece back of Honduran rosewood (the favorite wood of Miguel Rodriguez Jr.) with its dark-chocolate color and swirly grain patterns. Internally, the back has the Contreras-style ‘doble tapa’ veneer of spruce laminated to the rosewood which combined make up standard thickness and at the same time, increase the stability of the back. For the bridge and head veneer, Jake used Walnut and the trimmings are made of holly. The soundboard is a beautiful quarter-sawn set of spruce that simply makes the guitar stunning to look at. Workmanship is clean, simple and refined. The sound itself is textured, with ample overtones yet excellent clarity and balance - a wonderful synthesis of the Spanish and Northern European styles. The design of the guitar incorporates Jake's latest refinements - full depth linings at the bottom instead of an end block, a laminated fingerboard, carbon neck reinforcement and a raised back bar in order to add extra stiffness and rigidity while keeping the weight to a minimum, making it respond like an early 20th century Spanish guitar, giving it a dark, mysterious presence in all registers and lovely bottom end. Playability is a breeze with a very easy and comfortably shaped neck profile. Suitable for any size auditorium - also a wonderful recording instrument.
