Kenneth Brogger has always enjoyed experimenting with different design ideas for his instruments, particularly when it comes to his inlay work. To celebrate his 50th anniversary in guitar making, he decided to do something new. Inspired by the work of Antonio de Torres and other old masters including Enrique Garcia and Francisco Simplicio (Kenneth once owned a Torres and Simplicio!) and even Antonio Stradivari, this model (our first from him) celebrates a very famous mosaic that seems to have its origins in the Garcia/Simplicio workshop (see here for an example) and really flourished decades later in the guitars of Ignacio Fleta (and yes you may have guessed that Kenneth has also owned a Fleta!). Although Kenneth's "version" of this mosaic is not identical to these makers, it is clearly a tribute, done in his own style with his own proportions and color choices. True to its name, not only does Kenneth have this "mosaic" pattern present in the rosette, but also in the top purfling, back purfling, tie-block cap and even in the purfling at the "foot" where the sides meet. It is absolutely elegantly done and is marvelous to behold. Very rarely do we see something so unique and yet timeless at the same time. Kenneth has done it on this instrument! To round it out, Kenneth added an ebony inlay in the rosewood head veneer, and how perfectly it complements the fingerboard and lines/curves of the headstock shape. Materials chosen for this guitar are his best and most aged, as always. Overall, an aesthetic masterpiece. The sound is quite complex - it is warm yet clear, with a beautiful, lyrical quality in the treble that is found in older instruments, for which Kenneth has great fondness. Basses are full and round. Overall, a very satisfying and beautiful tone across all registers. We congratulate Kenneth on this effort - both the design and the execution to his same uncompromising, perfect standard.

Kenneth Brogger is Denmark's top builder - and one of Europe's best makers - of traditional Spanish-style guitars in his generation. He has been active for over a quarter of a century as a luthier, writer, restorer of old instruments and museum exhibitor. As a result of his tireless efforts, Brogger has become highly regarded in his native country, and was honored by the Queen of Denmark in 1997 when he was awarded the "Applied Arts Prize of 1879" and a silver Hetsch Medal, the highest recognition in the field of artisan craftsmanship. His building style is very reminiscent of the old Spanish masters (Garcia, Simplicio, Fleta) yet shows signs of the French and Granada schools (Bouchet, Friederich, Marin) as well.
