Description

A 2025 "1910 Manuel Ramírez" classical guitar by Liuteria Frignani, with a spruce top and Indian rosewood back and sides – the first guitar of the new father-and-son line to reach GSI.
In the video above, we present this guitar when it arrived.
A New Line from the Frignani Workshop
This guitar belongs to a new line of instruments created by master luthier (and bowed instrument maker) Lorenzo Frignani and his son, Eugenio, following Eugenio's recent entry into the workshop – Lorenzo's decades of craftsmanship joined with Eugenio's commercial background.
Designed in Modena, Built in Berga
Like Lorenzo's own replicas, it copies the sound and appearance of the original 1910 Manuel Ramírez in his personal collection. To make a more affordable yet high-quality concert guitar, it was designed in the Frignani workshop with the original as the reference: proportions, thicknesses, dimensions, head shape, rosette and inlays. Main construction is done in Spain by Genis & Prat, two veteran luthiers of the old Picado (previously Taurus) workshop, and final assembly, setup and varnishing back in the Frignani shop in Italy. A classic seven-fan bracing and French polish give it a bright, traditional Spanish tone.
Lightweight and Lyrical
The result is an impressive concert-level guitar, lightweight like the original, with a beautiful, lyrical, old-world Spanish sound. It responds quickly to the attack and is very friendly to both hands.
A Fraction of the Cost of an Original
Angelo Gilardino, Sandro Torlontano, Andrea Dieci and Stefano Grondona have long appreciated Lorenzo's replicas, having played them and the original. This line brings that style of guitar to many more players at a much lower cost, and players who don't want to tour with priceless vintage instruments have welcomed it.

Background
Liuteria Frignani: A Father-and-Son Workshop in Modena
Liuteria Frignani is the line of guitars launched in 2024, when Eugenio Frignani joined the family workshop of his father, Lorenzo Frignani, in Modena, Italy. It combines Lorenzo's decades of instrument-making expertise with Eugenio's commercial background, and it runs parallel to Lorenzo's own production, with an identity of its own.
Historic Models, Made in Collaboration
Each model is a replica of a historic guitar in Lorenzo's collection. The design is worked out in the Frignani workshop with the original as the reference – proportions, thicknesses, dimensions, head shape, rosette and inlays – and the main construction is done in Berga, Spain, by two veteran luthiers, Genis & Prat, of the old Picado (previously Taurus) workshop. Final assembly, setup and varnishing are done back in Modena. The aim is a concert-level guitar with the sound and feel of the original, at a fraction of the cost.
