Jose Vigil was born into a family of musicians and has played guitar since his teens. His love of woodworking combined with musical background naturally led him to guitar construction and he settled in Granada and was welcomed warmly into the guitar making community where he received training, advice and friendship with the veterans of the craft, including Antonio Marin, Rafael Moreno Rodriguez and most recently from Edmund and Florian Blochinger during recent visits to Granada. Being in the "Granada" school, his guitars have a slightly more compact and lightweight body size, with great speed of response and big volume with many nuances and colors of sound. Materials on this guitar are spectacular - this is our first CSA rosewood guitar from Jose and he chose a really spectacular set with beautiful patterning and color in the grain. He's matched it with a lovely quarter-sawn spruce top. It has a great amount of clarity and separation as one would expect yet at the same time it also has a nice warm, almost "dark" quality to the sound which gives it an alluring mystique. Aesthetically, the guitar is built with top-notch materials and has an elegant simplicity which is very tasteful and refined - reminiscent of some of the most charming second epoch guitars of Torres. This is a fantastic guitar built by one of the most promising younger builders hailing from Granada today. And although a second-hand guitar, it is in mint/brand-new condition.
