Kathrin Hauser is the fifth generation builder of the Hauser workshop which has maintained the tradition of guitarmaking that captures the sound and aesthetic of the "teutonic" style, as initially established by her great-grandfather, Hermann Hauser I and transmitted through her grandfather, Hermann Hauser II and father Hermann Hauser III. Although it is one of the most iconic (and copied) styles since its inception, it should be no surprise that this "Segovia" model has been so faithfully preserved by this workshop - indeed Kathrin and her father work in the same location as both Hermann Hauser I and II, using many of the same tools, and even woods that were acquired by their paternal predecessors. This guitar features a beautifully aged spruce top covered in gorgeous bearclaw, matched with high-grade, quarter-sawn and aged CSA rosewood for the back and sides. Sound-wise, it has all the classic Hauser qualities - great balance, evenness of sustain and supreme clarity. Trebles are lyrical, basses sturdy and deep, overall resulting in a timelessly beautiful quality of sound. Note: Like her father, Kathrin installs the label at the beginning of the build (in this case, 2022), but this guitar was actually completed in 2025 and is brand-new, direct from the shop.
