Description
This 2026 Fernando Moreno is a new classical guitar with a spruce top and African rosewood back and sides, built near Seville, Spain, with a rosette inspired by Domingo Esteso and Santos Hernández.
Fernando Moreno Classical Guitar with a Southern Spanish Sound
A spruce and African rosewood concert classical, this instrument stays very true to its origins – it clearly feels and sounds southern Spanish in character. Incredibly lively, with a fast attack and a rich, plump quality in the body of every note. That quick attack gives a clean, crisp separation between the notes for great balance and clarity, while a warm, wide sustaining sound follows behind. Overall this is a great guitar with plenty of volume for any concert setting.
An Esteso and Santos-Inspired Rosette
It is fitted with Fernando’s newest (and extremely beautiful) rosette design, which captures elements from some of the great makers of the past – particularly Domingo Esteso and Santos Hernández. Materials are exquisite – a gorgeous spruce top, quartersawn with a great amount of cross-grain silk, and a beautiful set of African rosewood for the back and sides with some very elegant quilting and colorations in the grain. We’re very pleased to be this great maker’s exclusive dealer in the USA and very proud to present this fine instrument.
Background
Fernando Moreno: A Guitar Maker near Seville
Fernando Moreno lives and works in Alcalá de Guadaíra, a town just outside of Seville, deep in the heart of Andalucía, birthplace and home of flamenco.
Trained in the Granada Tradition
His origins as a guitar maker began in Granada, when Antonio Ariza encouraged him to build on his own after seeing the quality of his work while Fernando was assisting in the guitar shop of Valeriano Bernal. Under the tutelage of both Antonio Ariza and Juan García Fernández, he built his first guitar, and he later entered the family workshop of Francisco Manuel Díaz, where he fine-tuned his skills in all aspects of construction, from the cutting of the wood to the finishing with shellac – largely with the support of Francisco’s son, Víctor Díaz.
