This guitar was built in the famous Jose Ramirez III workshop, which for over half a century has produced instruments performed on by countless professionals from Sting to Segovia, Chet Atkins to Sabicas and Lee Ritenour to Christopher Parkening.
The tone of this guitar has that classic, identifiable Ramirez sound from this era - a rich, thick and yet clear voice throughout, and has that essential warm, mysterious and moody quality that made Ramirez famous. Stamped initials internally are AS (Arturo Sanzano) who started working in 1963 as an apprentice with José Ramirez III where he remained until 1984. (For a complete list of Ramirez luthiers from this era, click here). It is in excellent playing condition thanks to a recent re-fret and setup job done by GV Rubio here in Los Angeles, who also cleated two small cracks in the back and re-varnished it (and touched up the sides) restoring the original lustre of the gorgeous CSA rosewood beneath it. An absolutely fantastic example of a of a top Ramirez from their golden era made with gorgeous materials.
