2020 Woonsun Lee "Limited" CD/CSAR

Enrique Granados' "Sentimentale" performed by Mircea Gogoncea on a 2020 Woonsun Lee "Limited"

Description

2020 Woonsun Lee "Limited" CD/CSAR

A 2020 "Limited" classical guitar by Korean luthier Woonsun Lee, with a dark, almost reddish western red cedar top and CSA rosewood back and sides – No. 174, made in Seongnam.

In the video above, Mircea Gogoncea plays Granados's "Sentimentale" on this guitar.

A Flawless Craftsman

Woonsun's style is understated yet elegant and perfectly executed; from a woodworking point of view the guitar is flawless. The central band of the rosette carries an origami-lotus motif made entirely of long-grain wood, which sparkles in changing light, and maple accents in the tie block, head and purfling frame the guitar beautifully.

Madrid Weight, Andalusian Response

His aim is a natural sound, letting the woods vibrate freely. The cedar gives a full, rich voice while keeping great clarity and separation; the guitar has the weight of the Madrid makers but the loose, quick response of Granada and Córdoba, and it projects to fill any room.

Woonsun Lee: Korean Classical Guitar Maker

Woonsun Lee is a South Korean classical guitar maker in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province. A guitarist first – he decided to devote his life to the guitar after hearing Kazuhito Yamashita play Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" – he apprenticed in Paju, building hundreds of student and concert guitars, restoring historical instruments and studying the models of Torres and Bouchet. In 2009 he set up his own workshop, building only concert guitars.

Exclusively at GSI in the USA

His style is understated, elegant and flawlessly executed, recognizable by the origami-lotus motif in the rosette and fine maple accents in the tie block, head and purfling. His "Limited" guitars are made from woods of limited stock, as the label notes. GSI is Woonsun Lee's exclusive dealer in the USA.
