Cuban-born guitarist Iliana was playing in Los Angeles and was kind enough to stop by and record some videos for us. Here she is playing her transcription of Elegía a Benny Moré on a beautiful 2014 Sebastian Stenzel in spruce and maple (as far as we know this is the first video of this piece), Leo Brouwer’s An Idea (Passacaglia a Eli Kassner) on a stunning 1992 Ignacio Fleta, and Mirándote by Eduardo Martín on a Cordoba C12 in spruce and Indian rosweood.

Wonderful, soulful guitarist and as always, top shelf guitars. Is the score to the elegia a Benny More available? Thanks much and Aloha.

The beauty of your intention LLiana, elevates that which is truly spiritual in your attention to the details of pushing around rare woods and sliver strings……….I cannot hide or find shelter from the gravity of this realization…….. I a now lovesick …..

The Eduardo Martin piece was so sensitively played, so lyrical and inspiring.
I didn’t realize how good a Cordoba 12 could sound. Thank you for sharing…

    The playing is superb.

A nice comparison. The Stenzel a nice recording instrument. Not wolfing. The Fleta a very traditional sound. The Cordoba a very modern ‘clean’ sound.

    Iliana, wonderful.

  10. Incredible, always with great article content, I liked it, keep sharing more.
